Offhand Flourishing is a peaceful and mediative pointed pen skill. True offhand flourishing is done without any preplanning or pencil sketching on the paper. The designs are the direct result of thinking on paper while using pen and ink. The designs grow organically and can be as simple or as ornate as you like. The Artful Flourish workshop was the first pointed pen class I developed, and I recommend it for all skill levels. Offhand flourishing is a wonderful skill to gain. The strokes are fluid and graceful and students will be able to see rapid growth in their skill level. It is far easier to learn than any pointed pen alphabet and you can build confidence with these ornate designs. This class is a delight to teach as we explore the basic cartouche designs, swags, scrolls, corners and more. The possibilities are truly endless.
