The March Hare

A Painting and Gilding Study Day

Saturday March 16th, 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM EDT

A very special work along experience is waiting for you! Throughout my years of teaching online, I have found it diIicult to race along quickly to work through the class syllabus. I love the experience but know that the presentation can feel rushed. Many students opt to watch and take notes and hope to complete the tasks later. But this can result in an accumulation of notes that does not necessarily culminate in practical experience of the exercises. I have been blessed to work with private students for many years and the pace seems easier for the students to work on their assignments. This special study day is meant for a small group of students to work alongside me as we design, gild, and paint a March Hare. The rabbit is one of my favourite designs in The Enchanted Meadow class, but this study day will focus on painting a white rabbit. When working on white subjects, we need to see the shadows and learn how to define dimension without saturating our paper with colour. The rabbit is painted with layers of diluted watercolour and will help you see white subjects with fresh eyes. A simple foliated setting will finish our composition as we gild and paint a sweet setting for our March Hare. A recording of the class will be available on my private YouTube channel for 6 months. You will be able to share your work with me in the class and ask any questions along the way. A lunch break will be given. You will experience a start to finish design with me as we work together at our desks. Expect some quiet time as we paint together. This is a very diIerent experience and I hope it will lead to more study days together in the future. If you are interested registering, the cost for the study day is $80 US.  Course notes and joining instructions for Zoom will be sent prior to our study day.
